I would like to have a little chat with whoever decided every new subdivision home needed gray floors, greige walls and gray countertops. That being said, I am the one who purchased the gray box but when there are only 3 houses in the 3+ cities you are looking to live in, a choice had to be made.
After almost a full year in our home it is time to start painting and adding character to make her a little less drab and a little more cute and cozy. While I hyper-fixate on different areas of my home regularly, for some odd reason, I feel like my laundry room is the place to start. It has the appeal of being low stake since I am just about the only one who goes in there. While it might be low stakes in terms of errors to be made, which there will be, it will not be low stake in design choice. I have talked myself into wallpapering the room that is probably the least practical to move around stuff. While in reality in won’t change a thing, I’m telling myself that if I have a fun laundry room those two overfull baskets of laundry would get done a whole lot faster. After spending hours at work scouring the likes of Pinterest, Home Depot, and a bunch of odds & ends sites, this wallpaper from Chris Loves Julia is the current pick. To me its grown up enough but still has a touch of whimsy.
As I plan to wallpaper four walls of a not so big room, I do fear it could be a mistake. That will be something you find out once the project gets completed or if anyone has a good been there, done that story, let me know. I do plan to add cabinetry to the main wall eventually, which in theory, should help make the room a little less in your face.

My sights are next set on our living and kitchen area and painting over the greige. So I will soon be losing my mind as I stare at a million variations of white and cream. There are so many variations of one color that it really makes me go mad trying to find the right undertone. After working matching carpet dye lots and in print production, I understand the importance but oh my gosh, how many variations of the color white does there need to be. You can’t ask social media because every influencer should be sponsored by Swiss Coffee by Sherwin Williams. Also why is every person who is posting about their house flip using Sherwin Williams? I really would like this explained because my plan was to run down to my local Ace or Home Depot.
While these projects may not seem daunting to some, just these two changes have me stressed out. However, this is the year to make it happen. I don’t plan to live our little home forever and want to make the most of it while we are here. There is so much more I plan to do to make this space something special. I’ll leave you with part of the ever evolving list of projects that I want to tackle in the coming year.
